I am wedged into a place I hate, one where budget constraints and my own impatience duke it out. So should I spend more on headers and have to wait another month to do my exhaust, or spend less and get them now? Also, what's the difference between these shapes of header?

Exhaust! The first link looks mildly sketchy. But it's probably a good product.

Equal length runners>unequal. Plus on your car they will sound a lot better if they are equal!

The Ebay set is "balanced" to work with the firing order of the engine to keep a good exhaust flow and "increase" power.
But who knows, it is an ebay set, I would lean towards the Megan Racing ones as you will get quality work.
That beign said I have ran Ebay headers on cars with no issues that were not the cause of my own. Like being so low I turned a two piece header into a three piece header.

you will be happier in the long run if you do it right. Also, if you cheap out now, it will bug you, and you will eventually re-do it, costing even more.

Spend more. The first ad doesn't say what kind of ss the headers are made of, so it's pry junk. The second link specifically says it's 304 stainless, which is good. Spend more now, thank yourself later.

Don't know if this is a consideration where you are, but I was cited to the tune of $15o because my old Volvo's exhaust was making so much noise. Do it as as soon as you can - I could have used that money towards the exhaust system I wound up putting on.

Well, I don't drive the car for the most part, it's my project 240sx...the headers will be paired with a Flowmaster Delta Force Race 10 muffler, and a dual tip...they will be quite loud, but no louder than the various diesel brotrucks/muscle cars in my area...cops around here are much more concered with speeding than sound.

Good point, I hadn't thought about metal quality, as cheap as the ebay ones are I bet they are crappy stuff.

True, although I might end up redoing it anyway if I ever decide to turbo the 240.

These aren't bad either, plus they are 304 stainless, which is good!

Yeah, I have had luck with ebay parts before, but there is always that quality question, especially since headers have to run at high temp.

Equal length even though the aft tubes have to bend all around weirdly?

Bends aren't bad, although, if they tend to mess up afr ratios you may have to reconcider. See what other people are doing with your car in terms of headers.

It seems to be well liked on the 240sx forums, at least.

Lifetime warranty too, not bad.

The Volvo (142S '72) was my daily driver. It was a rusty mess. But your project car won't get pulled over by the cops. Good.

My ebay headers held up well, no complaints to be honest.
The fit wasn't perfect, but for 36 bucks I wasn't gonna complin
